Welcome to our Yoga journey, especially Day 1 of the "21 Days of Basic Yoga" series! In this article, we will focus on diaphragmatic breathing exercises and seated spinal warm-ups. Make sure you are ready to embark on an exciting and meaningful journey.
Why are Diaphragmatic Breathing and Seated Spinal Warm-ups Important?
Before we delve into the details of the exercises, let's understand why diaphragmatic breathing and seated spinal warm-ups are crucial for your health. Diaphragmatic breathing not only helps improve airflow but also strengthens the abdominal and back muscles. This not only eases tension but also increases spinal flexibility.
Exercises for Day 1:
1. Diaphragmatic Breathing:
Sit comfortably, place one hand on your chest and the other below your navel. Breathe deeply and slowly by expanding your lungs as much as possible, ensuring that your chest and abdomen move evenly.
2. Neck Stretch:
Sit with your knees touching the ground, lean your body forward, and keep your arms on the ground. Feel the stretch in your neck and shoulder area.
3.Side Body Stretch:
Sit comfortably, extend one leg forward and bend the other leg to place your foot on the extended leg's thigh. Hold the pose to feel the best stretch.
4.Child's Pose and Hip Stretch:
Sit with your knees touching the ground, gently lean your body forward to stretch your hips and back.
5.Leg Stretch:
Extend your legs forward and gently curl your toes towards you. Hold the pose to feel the stretch in your calves.
6.Tabletop Pose:
Sit with your legs extended, place your hands behind your body and lean back. This exercise helps to open up the front of the body and the spine.
7. Cobra Pose and Child's Pose:
Cobra pose helps rotate the spine, while child's pose helps stretch and relieve tension.
8.Arm Stretch:
Sit with your arms raised overhead, lean your body to one side to stretch your arms. Repeat on the other side.
9. Bridge Pose:
Lie on your back with knees bent and feet on the ground, lift your hips high to form a bridge. Hold the pose to increase spinal flexibility and gluteal muscles.
10.Spinal Twist:
Sit and twist your body to each side to stimulate spinal flexibility.
11.Hamstring Stretch:
Sit, extend your legs, and gently curl your toes towards you to stretch your hamstrings.
12.Relax and Conclude:
At the end of the session, lie down and relax your entire body. Focus on deep breathing and hold this pose for maximum relaxation.
Benefits of Day 1 Exercises:
- Improved Deep Breathing:
Diaphragmatic breathing exercises help enhance deep breathing, improve air circulation in the body, reduce stress, and boost energy.
- Increased Spinal Flexibility:
Stretching and spinal twisting movements stimulate spinal flexibility, helping to reduce tension and pain.
- Full Body Stretch:
The full-body stretching exercises from head to toe help improve flexibility, reduce feelings of tension, and increase muscle endurance.
- Enhanced Mind and Spirit:
Focusing on breathing and body awareness helps strengthen the connection between mind and spirit, bringing a sense of peace and relaxation.
